Dear Distance Learning Families,

We are excited to announce that we are hosting our first Distance Learning Family Night. We hope you will be able to join us next Wednesday, October 7th from 5:30-8pm at the Monticello High School. We will start with a pizza dinner and then move into the auditorium. The purpose of our Distance Learning Family night is to build connections with other families and also meet the team of people supporting distance learning behind the scenes. We are dedicated to making sure our distance learners and their families are supported and have their questions answered.  We also wanted to pass along a few other reminders about the distance learning program that we feel are important to make a successful learning experience:

• It’s important that distance learners have an adult who is able to assist when needed. Our students often need reminders or assistance with technology to be successful. 

• Please make sure the students are not receiving help when they are given tests or assessments from their teachers. We understand it may be difficult not to give hints or clues when your child doesn’t know the answer, however, test results help guide future instruction by giving the teacher a full view of student’s learning during a certain period of time. 

• At some point during the school year, our distance learning teachers may need to be absent. If a teacher is absent for a short period of time (1-2 days), they will post learning activities to Seesaw but will not have live instruction. If a teacher is going to be absent for a longer period of time, we will have a substitute teacher fill in. We are currently in the process of training our substitute teachers for distance learning applications.

• Please ensure your child’s workspace is set up for success.  All materials should be readily accessible on a daily basis. Chromebooks must be charged at night. Help your child to choose a work space where distractions can be avoided.

• Reminder that materials/envelopes from school must be picked up by the end of the school day on Friday.  One suggestion is to keep the envelope sealed until Monday morning.  Another suggestion is to keep materials/envelopes in a student's backpack for safe keeping.

Estimadas familias de educación a distancia,

Nos complace anunciar que estamos organizando nuestra primera Noche familiar de aprendizaje a distancia. Esperamos que pueda unirse a nosotros el próximo Miércoles 7 de octubre, de 5: 30-8pm en la escuela de Monticello High School. Comenzaremos con una cena de pizza y luego pasaremos al auditorio. El propósito de nuestra noche familiar de aprendizaje a distancia es establecer conexiones con otras familias y también conocer al equipo de personas que apoyan el aprendizaje a distancia entre bastidores.  También queríamos transmitir algunos otros recordatorios sobre el programa de aprendizaje a distancia que creemos que son importantes para que la experiencia de aprendizaje sea exitosa:

• Es importante que los estudiantes a distancia tengan a un adulto que pueda ayudar cuando sea necesario. Nuestros estudiantes a menudo necesitan recordatorios o ayuda con la tecnología para tener éxito. 

• Por favor, asegúrese de que los estudiantes no estén recibiendo ayuda cuando sus maestros les hagan exámenes o evaluaciones. Entendemos que puede ser difícil no dar pistas cuando su hijo no sabe la respuesta, sin embargo, los resultados de las pruebas ayudan a guiar la instrucción futura al brindarle al maestro una visión completa del aprendizaje del estudiante durante un cierto período de tiempo. 

• En algún momento durante el año escolar, nuestros maestros de educación a distancia pueden necesitar estar ausentes. Si un maestro está ausente por un período corto de tiempo (1-2 días), publicará las actividades de aprendizaje en Seesaw pero no tendrá instrucción en vivo. Si un maestro va a estar ausente por un período de tiempo más largo, tendremos un maestro sustituto que lo completará. Actualmente estamos en el proceso de capacitar a nuestros maestros sustitutos para aplicaciones de aprendizaje a distancia.

• Asegúrese de que el espacio de trabajo de su hijo esté configurado para el éxito. Todos los materiales deben ser fácilmente accesibles a diario. Los Chromebook deben estar cargados. Ayude a su hijo a elegir un espacio de trabajo donde se puedan evitar las distracciones.

• Recuerde que los materiales/sobres de la escuela deben recogerse antes del final del día escolar el Viernes. Una sugerencia es mantener el sobre cerrado hasta el lunes por la mañana. Otra sugerencia es mantener los materiales / sobres en la mochila del estudiante para mantenerlos a salvo.
