Tell us a little about yourself
Born and raised in St. Cloud, I started my teaching career there after graduating from SCSU. My license is in Emotional and Behavioral Disorders and I have a Masters in Differentiated Instruction. I now live in Monticello and am a mother of 3. My family and I enjoy weekends ice fishing, camping, and playing outside.
What did you choose the teaching profession?
My Mother and father are both teachers. I started my career as a paraprofessional and found my calling with teaching special education students.
What is the best thing about teaching in Monticello?
Monticello has both the small town and big town aspects. I always tell people I love to live in Monticello because my neighbors have chickens, but I'm just a 5 minute drive to Target!
What is your proudest moment as a teacher?
Of course that "click" moment when a child finally understands something you are teaching is a proud moment. I love seeing students who may have some special needs finally thrive independently.
What advice would you give a young adult who is thinking about a teaching career?
Go for it, of course, and go for special education! The teamwork can be incredible and you can make some major differences in the lives of students and families.
