Monticello School District to celebrate Kindness Appreciation Week Nov. 11-15 with City of Monticello, CentraCare — Monticello
Monticello School District, in conjunction with the City of Monticello and CentraCare — Monticello, will be hosting Kindness Appreciation Week from November 11-15. The week will be so proclaimed by the City of Monticello at the Nov. 12th City Council Meeting.
The idea came about from Monticello School District’s Choose Kind Committee, a group consisting of parents and district administration that aims to make Monticello Public Schools the kindest and most welcoming school district in Minnesota.
The City of Monticello, Monticello School District, and CentraCare — Monticello all believe in working jointly to create an ideal community to work, live, go to school, and raise a family. The involved parties also believe passionately that happiness is one of the keys to a healthy community, and that it is important to emphasize and promote intentional kindness to increase happiness and to create an inclusive, respectful community where all feel welcome.
Kindness Appreciation Week will feature a number of activities and opportunities across the district and community. Daily activities will include kindness quotes from students of all ages, as well as a daily kindness challenge. These quotes and challenges will be shared both in school buildings and on Facebook and Twitter (via @ISD882). There will also be “Choose Kind” shirts for sale ($10) for middle school and high school students at lunch on Tuesday, Nov. 12th.
