I am a 5th grade teacher at Little Mountain. I live in Monticello with my two sons, Caden (15) and Caleb (11). I like watching my boys play sports and spending time with my friends and family.
Why did you choose the teaching profession?
School was not easy for me growing up, so teaching was not something I wanted to do right away. The first time I knew I really wanted to be a teacher was after I took a class in college and was able to go into a classroom to work with students. I absolutely loved being able to help the kids learn.
What is the best thing about teaching in Monticello?
The best thing about Monticello is the relationships we build with students, families, and staff. The people I will work with everyday are incredible! I love that we all do what we feel best for our students. We support and help each other both inside and outside of school. They are like family to me.
What is your proudest moment as a teacher?
That is a hard question to answer since there are so many moments where I am proud of my students. I am proud of them after they work hard and finally understand a skill that was challenging for them. When I see students being kind and trying to help each other out makes me proud. Another thing that makes me proud is to see the growth that each student has throughout the school year.
