Tell us a little about yourself
I am married and have two grown children who are just starting their adult careers. I enjoy walking, reading, gardening, and paddle boarding. In the future I would like to get a couple of dogs.
Why did you choose the teaching profession?
In eighth grade I decided I was going to be a teacher, lawyer or psychologist. I’ve always loved learning especially in my Social Studies classes, so when I went to college I took different classes. After taking the Intro to Education class my future was decided.
What is the best thing about teaching in Monticello?
The best thing about teaching in Monticello is the support from the community and staff.
What is your proudest moment as a teacher?
My proudest moment as a teacher is when a student applies something learned in class to improve his/her life or the lives of others.
What advice would you give a young adult who is thinking about a teaching career?
Think twice and then jump in! Visit classrooms and schools. Teaching is a demanding but rewarding career.
