Monticello’s New Superintendent Selected

The image shows a white paper with the text "Monticello School District 882 Superintendent Search" and a red pushpin on the top.

The search is over! After reviewing 31 applicants, the Monticello Public School Board voted unanimously on February 27 to enter into contract negotiations with our next Superintendent: Dr. Chris Swenson.

This decision comes after a thorough and comprehensive search process that began earlier this winter. The Board carefully considered a wide range of candidates and ultimately selected Dr. Swenson to lead our district forward.

Why this matters for your family:

  • Community-Driven: This decision wasn't made in a vacuum. Your survey responses, listening session feedback, and interview comments directly shaped the "leadership profile" used to pick the winner.
  • The Finalists: The Board chose from three exceptional finalists—Ms. Janell Bullard, Mr. Anthony Padrnos, and Dr. Chris Swenson—before making their final selection.
  • What’s Next: Once the contract is finalized, we’ll have more details and information on our new district leader.

"Our community played a significant role in helping us understand what Monticello needs... tonight’s decision reflects that collective voice." — Jamie Sieben, Board Chair
