Career Exploration in the Companion Animals Course at MHS
Today, Mr. Wilts hosted a Companion Animal Job Fair for his students at Monticello High School. Each hour, students rotated through six stations featuring professionals from a variety of careers, including a veterinarian, a vet tech, a rescue shelter representative, a pet nutrition company, a dog training and boarding expert, and a K9 handler with their K9 partner.
This experience gave students valuable insight into careers beyond the well-known veterinarian path. Each expert shared details about their profession, required education and training, and available opportunities in the industry. Prior to the fair, Mr. Wilts introduced these topics in class, and afterward, students will reflect on their experience.
This one-trimester course is just one of the exciting offerings in our new Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources Pathway at Monticello High School!
