MHS Youth Service Students Share Kindness Through Annual Service Project
Devony Moore

Students in Monticello High School’s Youth Service class recently participated in their annual service-learning project focused on compassion, empathy, and community impact.

As part of the project, students first explored the Science of Kindness, learning how acts of kindness positively affect both individuals and communities. They then applied this learning in a meaningful way by creating fleece tie blankets to donate to the Monticello Cancer Center for patients currently receiving medical care.

This year marks the fourth consecutive year MHS Youth Service students have completed this project. Through their hands-on efforts, students not only developed teamwork and service skills, but also experienced the powerful connection between learning and giving back.

The donated blankets will provide comfort and encouragement to patients during a challenging time, serving as a tangible reminder that their community is thinking of them.

You’re Invited to our February Family Listening Sessions
Devony Moore

Join Superintendent Olson for an important conversation about what matters most to our families.

While the Operating Levy passed in November 2025, it was designed to maintain our current programs and services—not expand them. As we continue through budget planning, the district still has difficult financial decisions ahead, including additional dollars to cut.

These listening sessions are an opportunity to share your priorities and help ensure our communication and decision-making reflect what families value most.

Listening Session Options:

  • Tuesday, February 10 | 6:15–7:30 p.m. — Elementary families
  • Thursday, February 12 | 6:15–7:30 p.m. — Secondary families

Both sessions will be held in the Monticello Middle School Auditorium.

Please register in advance and submit any additional topics you’d like addressed. All topics are welcome. We hope to see you there!
