TRUTH IN TAXATION

At the December 1, 2025 School Board meeting, the School Board held its Truth in Taxation hearing. The final levy is $3,044,508.29 higher than the 2024 payable 2025 property tax levy primarily due to the voter-approved operating referendum passed on November 4, 2025. This represents a 21.15% increase in total school property taxes. A detailed explanation of the major levy changes, both increases and decreases, can be found in the Truth in Taxation Presentation.

Current voter approved levies in place:
In the fall of 2015, voters approved two referendum questions. Question 1 authorized a bond referendum to fund facility projects, which will remain in place through taxes payable in 2039. These bond dollars supported the Eastview addition, the High School gymnastics gym, the High School multi-purpose stadium and track, secured entrances, secondary media center renovations, new furniture across all buildings, 1:1 devices, the Middle School kitchen relocation, Middle School tennis court relocation, and special education room renovations.

Question 2 approved an operating levy to support ongoing general operating expenses such as salaries, benefits, and supplies. This operating levy was later revoked and replaced with a new voter-approved levy on November 4, 2025. The new operating referendum takes effect for taxes payable in 2026.
