The music department of Monticello Schools is committed to enriching students' lives through comprehensive music education. We will nurture in each student: artistic development, critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and the pursuit of excellence by offering choral, instrumental and music appreciation experiences. Through performing and responding to music, we will foster teamwork, growth in self-esteem, respect for other cultures, community connections, and a life-long recognition of the intrinsic worth of music in the human experience.
Meet Our Music Staff:
Anne Miller went to Bemidji State University for music education and vocal performance. She received her masters in education at St. Mary's University. She also received her certification in Level 1 Orff as well as Level 1 Kodaly.
Katy Westrom went to the University of Minnesota for vocal and general music education. She received her Masters in Special Education at University of St. Paul. Both Anne and Katy have experience teaching all grade levels throughout their careers but have loved being able to work with future musicians here at Pinewood.
Anne and Katy have worked together to provide a fun music experience through incorporating many games and activities into the students' learning. We aim to inspire students to be creative and gain an appreciation for music. We look forward to continuing to develop musicians who have an understanding of many different styles.
